Working together to find sustainable narratives, from flax seed to linen fibre and beyond.
Since last year, 27 linen stewards have been growing flax together at the Heerlijkheid van Heule organic farm. On a 500 m² plot, they sow, harvest and process the flax by hand. Traditional knowledge is interwoven with their own experiences and new ideas. In this way, they are exploring how flax and linen can have a future that is collective, sustainable and local. In this exhibition, they report on a year of working together in the fields and in the workshop. They share insights, tell inspiring stories and showcase the new creations and products that have emerged from this collaboration. In doing so, they demonstrate the richness and relevance of this centuries-old material.
