Jana explores play within self-imposed structures. Her work emerges from rules that create space for freedom and discovery. Drawing and ceramics alternate and reinforce one another. For her series of ceramic vases, Jana begins with the function of the object. The simplest form of a vessel — the cylinder — becomes the foundation for a game of repetition through which she explores the sculptural. By arranging, rearranging, and stacking, she creates compositions with architectural forms and industrial references. The vase thus transforms from a functional object into a building element within a larger whole. Jana investigates the boundary between function and fine art, showing how limitation can spark creativity.
