With Tapièce Unique, Studio Vanwacht — Bjorn Dewachter (1994, Ghent) presents a more deliberate and sustainable stage in his practice. Working primarily with existing carpets forms the starting point: materials that have already lived a first life are carefully reworked and reshaped.

This approach reflects not only a respect for craftsmanship and material, but also a search for new layers of meaning within the everyday. Each piece becomes a unique work in which past and present meet.
