TramesFACTICES by Amandine Fabry is a textile research project that explores textiles as image, surface and medium of perception. Taking jacquard weaving as her starting point, Amandine Fabry investigates the essence of textiles: their construction, materiality, visual language and the cultural memory embedded within them.

Central to the project is a graphic exploration of the stripe, a motif inextricably linked to the act of weaving. By detaching the stripe from its original function, visual shifts disrupt our perception of the surface. Folds, volumes and movement appear to be visible, whilst the textile remains completely flat. This creates an interplay between representation and illusion, between what is woven and what the eye believes it sees.
The textile thus becomes its own subject. It simultaneously reveals its construction, its history and the craftsmanship inherent in the weaving technique. The works do not depict textiles, but explore the elements from which they are composed. Materiality, graphic design and textile heritage enter into a dialogue with one another.

Through wall hangings and reversible throws, TramesFACTICES explores the space between utilitarian object and art object. The works invite a contemplative gaze, in which perception is constantly adjusted and the textile simultaneously appears as matter, image and a vehicle of meaning.
