The Village

Become an architect yourself! ​

With The Village, Lodewijk Heylen aims to experiment with the possibilities of assumptions and reinterpretations within the urban fabric. Visitors are given a set of pre-defined building blocks with which they can construct their own temporary extension to the fort. As a spontaneous installation, passers-by are invited to shape the surroundings as they see fit. They can build and dismantle, organise and create disorder. They can choose to continue the existing structure or start from scratch. The Village changes with every participant.
