Between control and chance
This work explores the relationship between control and chance within the design process. A form, created from paper soaked in wax, serves as the starting point for a series of spatial and material interventions. Rather than beginning with a predetermined end result, the construction develops in response to this unknown form.
The various components are carefully designed and positioned, gradually giving rise to their own logic and coherence. The process thus constitutes an exercise in letting go of control, in which chance is not eliminated but, on the contrary, gives rise to conscious design decisions. The result lies somewhere between the spontaneous and the deliberate, between a form that has arisen by chance and a structure built up around it.
