HUMAN/nature

HUMAN/nature is a collection of sculptural furniture. Together, they form a Gesamtkunstwerk, yet each piece has its own narrative. A narrative that speaks of the dominance we, as humanity, exert over nature. The collection comprises Light Pollution, Root Damage Side Table, Victory Throne, Tree Armoire, … . Each piece highlights a hidden issue, such as excessive street lighting and root damage. In everyday life, these are often overlooked, yet they are all highly damaging to our natural heritage – a heritage that needs protection now more than ever. I, Stijn Jean Vos, sculptor, designer and arborist, seek to depict these wounds in sculptures. Through the use of centuries-old techniques, each piece is unique and natural.
