Henk Visch, I Was Married to a Monkey

Henk Visch (b. 1950, Eindhoven) is one of the most influential artists of his generation. Since the 1980s, he has developed a body of work that is as poetic as it is philosophical, and which constantly explores the boundaries between sculpture, drawing and language. His sculptures – often human figures, alienated yet recognisable – embody existential themes such as presence, movement, longing and vulnerability. Visch manages to achieve maximum intensity with minimal means: his sculptures seem to think, to dream, to wait.
