‘Handle With Care’ is an exhibition organised by the Interior, Design & Architecture (ID&A) department at Thomas More in Mechelen. Discover the work of the recent graduates from the Advanced Course in Furniture Design (VOMO) here.
At a time when speed, efficiency and consumption often take precedence, Handle With Care consciously chooses to focus on attention. Attention to materials and craftsmanship, to research and experimentation, but also to the relationship between maker, object and user. The exhibition puts the young designers centre stage. Not as a promise for the future, but as a voice of the present. What unites them is a design practice centred on curiosity, critical thinking and engagement.
Behind every object lies a process of research, testing, refinement and discovery. The designs are not merely end results, but tangible moments within an ongoing quest for meaning, relevance and form.
‘Handle With Care’ invites you not only to look at the end result, but also at what preceded it. To get closer, take your time and discover how a new generation of furniture designers today reflects on what we make, use and need.
