Géographie des Origines

Fabien Zocco’s Géographie des Origines takes as its starting point the concept of Pangea Proxima, a hypothetical future supercontinent which, according to geological theories, could emerge over hundreds of millions of years. Using artificial intelligence, generative processes and digital fabrication techniques, Zocco creates an installation comprising a sculpture and generative video imagery. The work brings together geological timescales, speculative science and digital technology, inviting visitors to reflect on our place within the Earth’s immense timescale.

Within ON/ART, the cross-border project by Designregio Kortrijk and Le Fresnoy, artists are given the opportunity to develop new forms of digital media art at the intersection of art, technology and experimentation. The project fosters collaboration and the exchange of knowledge between creators from Flanders and northern France, thereby contributing to a growing community of media artists in the border region. Through its installations, ON/ART demonstrates how digital media art can innovatively translate contemporary themes such as participation, ecology, technology and collective imagination into immersive experiences for a wide audience.
