Second Supper

With Second Supper, Vessel Kortrijk transforms a space around a contemporary reinterpretation of the Last Supper. Ceramics take centre stage: fourteen ceramicists – Lerry Ceramics, Silke Dhaese, Katrien Aerts, Jannah Field, Sophie Caure, Fiona Messens, Bert Claeys, Bert De Doncker, Eline De Winter, Roxanne Thomas (Horatio), Polly Huyghe, Merel Cremers, Tine Peeters and Ann Maelfait – each design their own tableware set. Together, their pieces form a single powerful table installation: a dynamic interplay of forms, contrasts and character. Playful, organic forms sit alongside sleek and precise objects, each autonomous yet part of a greater whole. The project aims to showcase the rich and diverse Belgian ceramics scene and demonstrates that ceramics today can be both functional and distinctly contemporary. The scenography – a bespoke table serving as the display stand for the entire collection – has been created by a furniture designer from the Kortrijk region.
