juxta

juxta is an ongoing series of functional domestic objects, an exploration of reclaimed, standardized elements reinterpreted through complementary material pairing and manual adaptation. The belief: utilitarian elements, often generic or even banal, can become the base for unique objects. Each piece sits between re-use, readymade and remix. A process closer to editing than making. Often, only a few percent needs to be altered or added for something to become unique, valuable, different. That alteration tries to be intelligent and intentional: as a reading of the element's properties, to deploy them in ways they were never designed for.
