At Kunst in Huis, you can borrow a work of art for your home or office at a friendly rate. To keep the collection up-to-date and diverse, we renew the collection with the work of over 30 up-and-coming artists annually. Meet some of them at the Wonder festival.
Celina Vleugel occupies part of the Kunst in Huis branch in Kortrijk with her tactile and colourful textile works. Moreover, you can discover works by 7 starting artists in several shopping windows at Doorniksewijk.
Celina Vleugels (°1996, lives and works in Ghent) studied both painting and textile design. She translates her imagination into intimate drawings and textile works that stimulate the senses. In her work, she searches for a place where she can reveal the most vulnerable version of herself, without feeling judged. From yarn, textiles, paint, embroidery, felt and recycled materials, Celina creates tender textile works and installations that exude a comforting softness. The soft material contrasts with the emotionally heavy themes woven into the work: how do we cope with the loss of a loved one? Do we need to protect ourselves? Am I really my own self? The weight of these questions not only contradicts but complements the light materials.
